History

of Lake Winebago

Nestled close to Kansas City, Lake Winnebago is an exclusive residential lakefront community offering resort style living around the 400 acre lake.  Lake Winnebago is known for its amazing watersports, great fishing, beautiful sunsets, abundance of greenspace, and fun-filled community activities.

The community of Lake Winnebago began in 1963, and the lake itself was originally 263 acres.  In 2003, Randy Spalding (owner of Randy Spalding Excavating) envisioned the possibility of expanding Lake Winnebago after purchasing the property to the south of the original dam.  With his background and expertise in the construction business and residential development, he decided to bring the project to light in 2018.  With the cooperation of the City of Lake Winnebago and the Lake Winnebago HOA, a new dam was constructed 3,000 ft downstream and Lake Winnebago was expanded to a total of approximately 400 acres.
